Story time is Serious Business

We met our friends for story time at an almost local library (ours is due for a grand reopening in a couple of days but currently closed). Afterwards the kids always get to pick there new reading materials. It's sort of a toddler/preschool free-for-all because the place is swarmed by kids who have just been asked to sit still for 30 straight minutes.  Most of the kids are excited and loud (and running).

Not Colin. He carefully chooses a few books and settles in at a quiet table to look them over and be sure of his final selection before we check out. Thankfully I remembered that my phone can take a picture now and then. ;)

Sweet and Sassy

Erin got a touch up cut today...we just can't get enough of how her signature bob captures her sassy personality!

Play Ball!

Erin has desperately wanted to play ball with the boys for months. Santa was kind enough to bring her a glove of her very own so that she could get in on the action. How adorable is she?? We don't have to tell her that's a tennis ball...it's a little softer for inside games than a baseball would be, afterall.

Story Time

Given her propensity to put all things in her mouth Tara does a lot of "look but don't touch" story time. When I handed her a board book today (so that she'd stop helping me with the laundry) she really seemed to think she was getting away with something. I'm betting this is just one of many mischievous smirks we're going to see.

Our little Picasso

Colin declared this to be his "best rocket yet!" so I figured we'd better capture it for the archives.

Wonder.

Color Wonder, that is. These markers are fabulous and one of the easiest clean crafts for the kids. Today Erin decided to work on mixed media projects pairing her favorite marker colors and foam bug stickers.

Cabin Fever

The cold weather is not our friend. Illness, wind chill and the generally overwhelming thought of bundling three kids up to get to the car, un-bundling them for buckling car seats and doing it all over again to actually go anywhere means that we've seen a lot of home lately. Today we decided that we were going to go on an adventure in our living room to "get away from it all". The kids decided that they were astronauts traveling to the moon. I don't know that NASA would approve of the safety features in their primitive craft but mommy definitely approved of the quiet that came from nearly an hour of imaginitive, cooperative play.

Budding Table Manners....

I asked him to use his spoon.

Note that he holds it in one hand while eating with his other.

I again asked him to use his spoon and he said, "I'm just using it to hold my bowl, mommy!"

Oy! the literal interpretation of the toddler.
